I have a quick question about the bolts in the bed of the truck. I am thinking of putting in a body lift, and I was reading through the instructions online, and it said that you have to take the rear bolts out of the bed of the truck. I have the back of my truck rhino lined, and the lining is over the bolts. Does anyone have an idea as to how I should take the bolts out?

 

I used a exacto knife and it came out easily. Other that that I would reccommend a blow torch.

 

razor blade or what i did was use a dremel with a cut off bit.. your going to have to cut the bed liner

 

Ok sounds good. Was it tough for you guys to cut all the way through the liner?

 

i tried for like 5 minutes to use a box opener, then i busted out the dremel, im really impatient, then again i didnt really care how it looked

 

I have heard a good sharp box cutter. or a dremel, as everyone else has said haha.

i have the same problem as i plan on gettign a B/L sometime in the future. when you are done just run down to your local auto parts store and get pint of brush on Hurculiner(or similar) to touch up the holes when you are done.

or go back to where you got your Rhino lining done and see if they are willing to touch it up and how much they would charge (if anything for just a couple bolt heads).

 

I have another question, a little off topic, but I dont think a whole new thread is worth it. If I lift the bumpers is it true that you cant use the tow hooks anymore? I heard somewhere that if you lose the valance then you can use the tow hooks. And if you cant use the tow hooks no matter what, does it look weird not lifting the bumpers?

 

oh jeeze...they sprayed OVER the bolts....they didn't pull 'em out when they sprayed it?? GOD that sucks. My local Line-X always pulls the bolts before they spray.

YES. it really looks weird if you don't lift the bumpers. You can cut your lower valence to use the tow hooks still if you want. Some lose the hooks because they don't want to cut their valence.

 

if you take off the tow hooks you can cut them then weld them back on

Yea, my friend took a dull razor blade and pulled/cut the crap out of my lining in 2 places when I left the driveway...was kinda pissed too...get a new blade and just cut a " + " on top of the bolt head and get it a cleaner look. Maybe cut a hole directly srrouind ght ehead, too. I use the bed a lot, and things have gotten caught on one of the "no lining patches." Take your time with it, and don't be an "impatient Matt." It's practical, and stuff won't snag on it.


It's not hard to cut rhough the material.

Make sure you get the correct fvcking size Torx bit...you don't wanna strip those...buy the piece, dont be a cheap@ss...


Ranger_guy15, I think it looks freaking retarded with the stock bumber location and a 3" BL. It's actually a peeve of mine. You could diamond plate it or add a rear 'fullsize brake light' to the gap...but it's done because there are no brackets to begin with.

Tiow hooks can be easily moved...if they are aftermarket. As far as stock tow hooks...got me there. *Shrug*
