Body lift issues
Hey there, on Saturday me and a couple buddies successfully installed the PA 3 inch BL on my 1998 Ranger. Did some other routine stuff like changed the air filter, cleaned the airbox etc
Well anyways, after it was in truck starts up is fine let it idle for a minute to figure out all the settings after having been disconnected from the battery. I go get something to eat, come back and son of a ***** I throw it into drive and here comes the CEL.
Now I at first suspected that it could be that we DIDN'T use the fuel filler extension, as my hose had plenty of slack in it and it didn't seem to be required. On second thought however, it seems that couldn't be it as the light should have come on when idling if their was a gas vapor issue. Anyways I head home, and as I am starting to go forward from a stop sign my transmission seems to like miss a gear, or possibly slips out of a gear however it quickly goes back to normal but weird non the less.
We also cleaned the airbox as I said earlier, upon taking out my nasty old air filter we discovered a mouse nest in my airbox, however it seemed to be vacant of all occupants. Tossed in a new filter, reconnected the large hose that goes from the MAF to the intake.
In any case, does anyone know of any critical areas I should check to make sure nothing got messed up by the BL? I am going to get the code checked tommorow, however if it is a serious issue I'd rather not put any more miles on it.

the ground wire in the engine area, was reattached using a small 90 degree L extension bracket.
The ground wire from the cab to the frame on the drivers side, was incredibly frayed and as soon as i moved it a little bit to take it off and add the extension it broke. Could this be the issue?
On the passenger side the ground wire from the cab to the frame fit without needing any extension.

I would somehow figure a way to get that ground wire on there .

I ended up making a new ground wire out of some insulated copper wire, seems to work and the light is now off

Also check and make sure that nothing is being pulled like the wireing going into the tranny and make sure that the shift cable isn't being pulled. When I did the '03 I had to slip the cable down a bit in the holders because it was pulling as the body lifted. If the shift cable is way too tight then it won't sit in gear correctly. Also did you check on the lines going from the tranny to the cooler in the front that pass under the radiator and make sure those arent rubbing and getting cut on the bottom of the radiator.
