i'v been looking for an air intake kit for my 2007 ranger 2.3......... i know its a brand new truck.. but i know the engines been around for awile and want to know what kits should fit my truck......
heres some pics of the engine bay(my truck) to compare.... to engine bays of 2005 or 2006 ...wich i hope there 2.3 is set up the same
look identical to my '03 2.3L. any intake that fits the '03 should fit your truck. I have tried several and I in my opinion either the k/n or volant intake tube with an amsoil filter seem to provide the best results. any of the filters that require oil seem to let a slight amount of dust by, I didn't care for that and what it could do to the engine, so I switched to a universal amsoil ea cone style filter and find that it is berrer than anything else I have tried. If it matters, I have tried the k/n filter, afe filter, green filters usa filter. Before switching to the Amsoil filter I had the best luck using the afe filter with fram airhog oil.

Last I checked there is no CAI for the 04+ ranger. Has something to do with the change in the throttle body or mass air sensor that will not allow the previous year's CAI kits to work even though they look the same.
Looks identical to my factory intake, except the resonators are capped off. I would recommend the MAC system, as I've never had a problem with oil or dust in the intake. It's also much cheaper than the others.
I just dug my stock intake and airbox out and it looks identical to what can be seen in your pics. My maf is held onto the factory airbox lid with (4) 10mm bolts. Removed my volant intake and installed a new k/n fipk intake, I would have never believed it, but the k/n make quite a noticable differance over the volant. 57-2552 in the kit I used.
Nope, the intake is listed as fitting 01-03 because 04 and newer the MAF is part of the airbox lid, molded as one piece instead of bolted together(STUPID)
As I said, mine looks identical to what can be seen in the pics. The lid MAF is not shown very well. Nice way to write your first post ASSHOL*
I believe he was referring to the way Ford manufactured the intake, and not making a personal remark. Either way, it's not proper to slam new members, and certainly against forum rules to make personal attacks (even if you are provoked).
I'd still like to see a pic of the new 2.3 aircans. Maybe I'll head over to a Ford dealer this week.
This may help. If you look at the mass air meter itself it should be held in with 2 screws on the lid. I bought a 06 focus and the maf is the same way. Steeda has a maf adapter made from i think billet aluminium to atach a caone filter to. Get the adapter and a tube from a 03 and mount and it should fit great.
