Blown 2.3L

Not a blown up 2.3 but rather a supercharged 2.3. i plan on supercharging my 1994 ranger xlt . it has a 2.3L and 5 speed trani. i will be using an Eaton M90 supercharger off of a Thunderbird Supercoupe. if anyone is interested i will put up pics and tell you how well it works when i'm done. it'll probably take me awhile though.

Well guys, I am digging up my own old thread with an update. My dad and I finally got started on this project. Here are some pictures as of how she sits tonight.

Feel free to move this thread to Forced Induction or wherever else if you would like, I didn't know of that forum back when I started the thread.

It is all just mocked up right now. We are still figuring out the exact placement. Dad did finish welding up the lower pulley today. More pics as we progress.

I figured this would draw at least a little bit of attention. Anyway, I have all of the intake parts from the T-Bird SuperCoupe. At first we were not going to run an intercooler, but it wouldn't be much more work so we are going to go ahead and use it.

Sweet. I'm thinking a pro-charger for ease of installation. A turbo is loking like too much work on the D-tec.

Awesome man, I had no idea this was doable without the actual block from a T-bird. And from the looks of your truck you're running the Lima motor? Very cool, please keep us updated.

Yep it is the Lima 2300. There is no kit or anything, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Centrifugal SCs are expensive, we got the M90 and rest of the intake from the 3.8 for $150. We could have had injectors, but we didn't grab them. We might use injectors from a 5.8(351W). We will see what happens.

Not trying to be a doush but why not turbo? Plus might want to keep a low boost pulley on it (under 5psi) with stock internals or you will have problems. The 9:9:1 compression (I know its something in the 9s) dont like boost well. I would like to see how it turns out though. It looks mean.

1. Turbo 2.3s are common practice.
2. Superchargers look cooler sticking through the hood.
3. Turbo lag is ghey.
4. I like to be different.
5. Because I can.

It will be under 5 psi, don't worry. Maybe right at 5. If I blow it up I will rebuild it with forged internals.

I kinda like the supercharger idea myself. I dont see the redneck part of it myelf, as you said its different, but I like the blow off of turbos and not the whine of superchargers.

By the way, It is mounted up for the most part. We need to make a tensioner for the belt and get a belt the right length. All the plumbing need to be done still, and then we can start figuring out all of the little problems.

I will have pictures tomorrow.

Really? I love that whine. Not sure why though. I think the sound of a turbo sounds really good with a diesel.

Nothing like a good turbo spooling down low on a diesel. Im very interested in the plumbing. I can honestly say yours is the first supercharged 2.3 ranger I seen. I want to see more of how its done.

also curious to see about how much increase in power it makes. I dont know what 5psi will do for hp. I know it wont be much but anything helps out trucks.
