did plugs and wires now tach is off...

ok i have a 95 ranger with around 170k on it. it origionally had no tach until i did the gague cluster swap and now i have a tach. before i did the plugs and wires the tack read correctly now it reads around 500-700 rpms lower than what it did. however the motor does not seem to run lower rpm at all it just seems like the gague is reading low. did i do something wrong or does the computer just need to reset itself over time?? or has anyone else come across this and if so what did you do to fix it? thanks for the help.

Thats weird. Only thing I could recommend is disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes to reset the computer and see if that works.
