lima vs. duratec

so i am thinking of getting a new vehicle and i could not think of anything that i would want and be able to afford besides another ranger!! so i am turning to RF for some help.

if anyone on here had the choice of getting a duratec 4cyl or a lima 4cyl which would it be and why?

i know there are some of advantages to the duratec motor
1. better gas milege
2. more power

but i am a expierenced lima owner right now and i know the positives of a lima.
1. super reliable (at least mine has been)
2. i already know how to work on it and do all the matinance that it needs.

is there anyone that has owned both at one point? if so which would you rather have the lima or the duratec.

i know that there is alot more to buying a now vehicle then this but i just wanted to hear everones opinion on which motor they thought was better.

so what is the difference between the dohc's in the rangers and the dohc's in the focus??

my parents have a 02 focus with around 165000 miles on it and it has been a pretty reliable car, with the exception of a cooling issue (engine cooling) that was fixed under the warranty.

are there any common problems with the duratec's?

Lima if you want to turbocharger it.
Duratec if you are keeping her stock and want the best factory 4cylinder.

duratec gets better gas mileage and has more hp

rangers with the lima tend to be cheaper.

i've owned both. I think there both very reliable. my personal preference is the duratech my 03 with 119000 miles has been nothing but perfect. i've pulled about 4000 lbs with it.

I've had both, and I think the Lima ran quiet, but feel that the Duratec is better, well, It may be a bit early to say since I only got 1,600 on my Ranger.
