K&N 77-Series Tube w/Stock Airbox?

My truck drives like a dog in the summer and I think it is because of the K&N cone sucking in too much heat from the engine. So I am wondering if anyone has combined the K&N tube with the stock airbox? They look like the would line up pretty good..

If I did this I would use Motorcraft FA1658.. I don't like the oil mess..

You could also make a custom tube out of some aluminum piping and a couple fittings. There are online stores where you can buy all the pieces you need.

He already has a KN metal intake tough!

FX2.3, just ditch the KN thing altogether. My truck runs great with just the stock intake, and the intake air temps are about 15* cooler than they were with my KN 77.

x2

That thing is almost as bad as a 5.4L intake on an F-150.

Can't you make a heatshield for your cone filter?

I've done it with chrome mac intakes on a 3.0. It fits right in as long as it is 2003 or older.

It oughta work, and with the air box mod, prolly flow almost as well.

OR.....you could give me that intake tube, and I'll give you my stock tube that doesn't have the muffler box on the side.

Get some Lexan/plexiglass and build an enclosure for the intake.
