immediate help needed

i was going to school today, i turned the corner, and my truck quit, i had my mom drive down there and crank on it, i was not getting spark so something is messed up, the timing belt was just replaced before i bought it, it will crank, but it is not getting any spark, do you think the person that put the belt on there damaged the crank sensor or? what else should i check, i am gonna check for codes once i sign in for my next class, and leave

does yours have the fuel cut of switch? It's a button that has to be reset. On the newer models it's under the passenger side kick panel.

Well your kinda contradicting yourself (i had my mom drive down there and crank on it, i was getting spark) then (it will crank, but it is not getting any spark)? If your getting spark look for the roll over switch as Graniteguy is suggesting and try resetting it.

i totally missed a word, it was not getting spark, and it still isn't, i took the module to orielly's and they couldn't test it, i took it to autozone, and they said it was bad, i am gonna get one off of my friends parts cars( i know one of them is DIS, and the motor knocks, so i'll ****** that one, i have called him but he isn't home, lets hope that fixes it

If the tensioner wasn't properly set when the timing belt was changed the belt may have skipped a few teeth or broke. That would cause no spark.

Did it make any wierd noises before it quit. My timing belt tensioner failed after I installed a new timing belt. I set the tension according to the manual but it was too much for the old tensioner and it split the pulley in two pieces. It made a clattering noise while it was failing and then the engine quit (timing went way out). I picked up a new tensioner from NAPA (better quality) and reinstalled it and noticed the belt had jumped a few teeth during the failure, causing the engine to die. On my 94 ranger 2.3 I changed the tensioner in the parking lot since the cover is easily removed. It's important to get everything at top dead center and position the belt such that the slack is taken up on the tensioner side rather than between the crank and the cam sproket side. That way when you let the tensioner go, it will not throw the timing out. see https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=34702 for the setup procedure

Good luck
