converter

ok so my converter is clogged up pretty bad, so i am thinking if cutting it off but i dont want that damn check engine light on. does any1 know a way to keep it off or if i even can also will this hurt the 2.3 or give it anymore power

How do you know it's plugged?

smells like it is burning and also a couple ford techs said that was what it was

Well if you chop it off you will lose power in the end. Like you will get the power back from having a clogged cat but then you will lose power from not having one. I'm not sure what to do about the light.

Replace it with one from Random Technology or Magnaflow.

Find out WHY it plugged to begin with.You have another issue besides a plugged cat.

If it is really plugged at all (mechs like to eat and have nice things too $$)

You stated in your first post you have a check engine light.
Get the codes pulled.

i drove my 93 with nothing but a dynomax turbo muffler, i had alot of power from 0 - 60 but i must say i lost a little at top end not much though. i would try to get a high flow converter if you can afford it, remember people will buy your old onefrom you too.
