Removing upper intake manifold anything else I should do?

Basically what the title says what else should I do?
I just bought the truck(93 2.3 182,000mi) and it smokes pretty bad when down shifting which makes me think my pcv valve might be bad and I can only get to it by removing the intake. Also is it pretty easy to remove the manifold.

you dont need to remove the intake manifold to get the PCV on a 93. The PCV connects 2 hoses behind (towards the firewall) the intake manifold right about where the upper meets the lower. Stand on the driverside of the truck and reach in past the brake booster to the hose and just pop it apart. It's a very roomy area with plenty of space to work in.

Thanks for the quick response TireIron
Okay bare with me I have never had a pcv vehicle before. I found it and I have the two vacuum lines and the electrical connector disconnected. How does it come out?

Sorry to be the one to tell you but that is a sure sign of worn out piston rings.

Also , a PCV valve does not have electrical connectors going to it.

yeah i figured that. I thought that maybe the pcv valve might causing some of it. Either way I only paid 300 for it. I guess I'll just drive it till it pukes.
