my driveway is dirt and the dust from it is always being sucked into the intake. its easier just to clean it than to replace it

I have the Amsoil one and you only have to blow it out every 25k miles or so.

the biggest advantage to the EaA filters is that they filter better than stock, foam, or gauze, they flow better than stock, and they NEVER need to be oiled, you just clean them with a vaccuum or blow them out. performance results should be similar to the K&N

Telemaster, these new filters have only been out for a few months, are you sure you are talking about the same ones?

I also switched to the amsoil filter. I was running a volant intake with a greenfilters filter on it, but I decided to put the stock airbox back in, minus the little silencer tube in the bottom. If your not sure if you have the new amsoil filter, they are blue with orange surrounds. I get slightly better gas milleage with the amsoil filter/stock box and it filters a-lot better than any gauze/oil filter out there.

Amsoil makes the open cone style filters like the K&N CAI's and what not. I'm considering this filter once my K&N goes south on me. It won't match in color but i don't have much to show off anyway lol! -Mike-

I did a study on OEM air filter area vs engine displacement, and the 4 cylinder Ranger has the largest air filter area. This is because the same airbox is used for the 4 cylinder, and both V-6's (3.0L and 4.0L) I also included the F-250 V-10, which has the smallest filter area.A guy on FTE dyno'ed his V-10 with the OEM paper filter, the K&N, and no filter at all, and found absolutely no difference up to 4200 RPMs. Bottom line here, the OEM filter, and intake will flow all a N/A engine can pull, don't waste your money!

Here is the graph:

The new Amsoil universal cone filters are a much better choice than any of the gauze/cotton filters that require use of oil. They flow nearly as well and filter much, much better.
