Well if money wasn't an issue I'd take $10k and give it to Esslinger and just let them have a ball.

you guys gotta understand stock racing class. the engine must look and meet all factory numbers on compression and vacuum and must be running stock air and fueling setup.

so with that said, take a 2.5 motor and bore it out with the right pistons and mybe get it up to about a 2.7L jump the compression up to maybe 10.5:1 between pistons and milling down the head. this would require of course probly at least 108 octane fuel to keep from detonating. do a good job porting and matching the head with a big valves and a good valve job with stiffer valve springs. run a cam for a power band between 3000 and 9000 RPM. run the EEC-V fuel injection system with a good tune on it. and full length headers to scavange as much exhaust as possible from it. probly stick an adjustable cam sprocket on it to play with the power band a little more also. and run the older 4 plug head from the cars on it for ease of installation and it flows better. quite a bit of precise work and part location... again this is all keeping it within stock class and naturally aspirated.
