Throttle Response-PLEASE HELP
I race a 2.3 stock bottem end, my head is shaved a little and ported a little, and i have the 202 valves. When my strongest opponent nails the throttle he instantally gets up to 5,000 rpms, me it take a lot longer to get to 5,000 rpm. What can I do to get me response faster.
I can't get any rpm's like my opponent. Last year I had a .030 over, 5.7 eagled rods, and domed JE pistons and couldnt get no more rpm's with big cam than small cam??

whats your exhaust setup like? normally a slow revving engine is from a poorly designed exhaust setup. even the factory truck header is better than the manifold, then they also make aftermarket full length headers which may be a good chice. sticking with about a 2.5" exhaust from headers back will give you probly the best performance for a naturally aspirated 2300. i wouldnt go larger than a 2.5" though, you will lose performance. im running just the 2" and it feels really good. but im setup for good torquey response, so for a lighter car and racing a 2.5" may work just right. you also might want to look into makeing sure the intake manifold is port matched between upper and lower, which intake manifold are you using anyway? there are a few different versions between the cars and trucks and different years.
