2001 XLT excessive fuel consumption

I've read a lot of other posts on here about MPG and it seems like other people are getting way better than I am..... Is there any good ways to boost it? I filled my truck up and drove 48 miles and it took half a tank... I don't think that is very good haha. A lot of people say it's how you drive and stuff, but since my truck uses that much gas up I drive as fuel economical as possible! Any thoughts and ideas would be much appreciated!

It runs great! I just did a full oil change and cleaned the air filter (K&N) Would the plugs make that big of difference? I'm going to check them tomorrow to see how they look

hmmm you leaking gas somewhere. thats like 5mpg. I didnt even think our trucks in the worst conditions could drink fuel that fast.

So what you are saying is that you get 100 miles per tank.

That is more than driving style unless you are idling in traffic. If you are not driving in Los Angeles at rush hour towing a trailer there is a problem. Do you have a check engine light? Do you smell raw (unburned) gas coming out the tailpipe? Is your gas gauge screwy?
