Engine losing power

94 4x4 3.0 Sometimes when I go to take off the engine will cut off completely or lose power for a second and almost cut off. It sat for a long time before I bought it, any thoughts?

Correction.....It only does it now when I make a hard turn from a dead stop, it will shut off, or sometimes when I take off at normal speed...wtf fuel pump and filter are fine.

plugs, wires, coil ?
or a combination of the three ?

it sounds very similar to what was happening to my ranger when I had a bad plug.

check to make sure none of them have hairline cracks, or a loose post, this was my problem and I changed mine very recently.

if nothing is wrong with plugs/wires, then check to make sure the coilpack is good.

All right, did all that, no coil pack- has a distrubutor but the cap n rotor are fine. Its getting to be a problem, It cuts off in the intersection if I take off to fast, a buddy of mine said its the timing, what do you guys think? Heres the total problem:

Taking off too fast, putting the RPMS above 3k on take off it will shut off. Hard Turn from a dead stop it will shut off.

Checked: Fuel pump, Filter, Distributor cap n rotor, Plugs and wires. Oil is fine, tranny is fine.

Check the connector to the inertia switch for the fuel pump.

check your fuel pressure regulator for a cracked vacuum hose or a sluggish regulator. it increases or decreases fuel pressure based on demand set by vacuum. if its not working you may be choking out or flooding.

Idk, I wasnt the one to take it off, im thinking the previous owner had. Also thinking there might be a hole in the exhaust manifold where he tried to JB weld all the holes shut..... so Im going to take it off tom and check.

exhaust leaks would not cause your problem, they would cause noise and maybe a CEL what holes are in exhaust manifolds? did it have an AIR system on it before? I would get a fuel regulator from a JY and try that as well as reconnect the EGR system to normal function. you might try disconnecting the fuel regulator and seeing if it acts differently or the same. I had a bad regulator on an explorer a few years back but i cant remember just what the symptoms were other than bad milage. not sure if it popped a code or not. The connection for the ground at the battery for the fuel pump may not be good and you are getting a low fuel pressure as well has it had the ground terminal replaced before? if not i would try that too it just costs a couple bucks to replace the terminal and see.

For engines to run they need fuel fire and compression since it try's to run then fire and compression are there pointing to a fuel delivery problem.
