2001 ranger 3.0liter/ taurus 3.0 liter

Need input??? any info greatly appeciated. I have two different people saying different things. My question is can you swap a 3.0 out of a taurus into a ranger? I know i will have to change intake/ exhaust man.,oil pan, pickup tube, water pump ect. I was told by one person it will work. told by another that the head gaskets need to be changed also???? the block and heads are the same this is a fact. but my question is what about the head gaskets?

Thanks again

the fwd Vulcan has a reverse flow cooling system so it uses thicker gaskets.

so the only difference is they are thicker gaskets? or are the passages different? would i have to change the gaskets also? I was thinking it was the difference on the fwd the heat core hose came off the water pump and on the ranger it was on the intake manifold?
Thanks again any info appreciated.

I believe so.I had the heater core in my Taurus flushed about 6 months ago. I think I heard that the heater core on fwd 3.0's "piggybacks" off of the rear cylinder bank.

i know the gaskets list different part numbers maybe i should go and check them side byside to see what the difference is. I have a guy from a junk yard telling me that he has change 4 fwd 3.0's in to rangers with no problem, But i talk to another guy awhile back and he was adamant that you would have to change the gaskets also. he didnt know the reason. If its a case of the heater core passage being closed off maybe its possible to punch a hole in it with the intake off?
