So I want an XCal2....
to go along with my K&N intake I just recieved in the mail, but when looking through the options on what tunes to pick I don't see a 89 performance or anything like that. I've always run 89 because my Dad, previous owner, had some pining early on, not sure if it go fixed or not, but I haven't heard it since I've owned it and it runs fine on 89. So I guess my question now is, before I buy the Xcal2, should I get some colder plugs (due for plugs and wires anyway) along with a 160* thermostat before buying the xcal? Like I said, I haven't heard any pining but you know how that goes, just because it hasn't showed up in awhile doesn't mean it's not there.
1. Is there a 89 "tune" available instead of 87 octane?
2. Should I get colder plugs and new thermostat?
3. Any how to's to go about changing the thermostat?
Thanks again and sorry for not staying on one topic, still learning.

Email Doug and ask him your questions, he'll give you a straight answer. Doug's a good guy. BTW, there are 89 octane tunes.

We field a lot of sales, questions and customer support for BamaChips, so you can always come to us too.
BamaChips does have some great 89 octane tunes, performance and torque, so you can certainly use those.
No need to change your plugs.
DO NOT change your thermostat out to a lower temperature. Fuel injected vehicles run best around 195 degrees.
BamaChips tuning is made to work well and reliably with all of the stock components, you will not have to change anything out just to be able to use the tunes.
For reference here is a link to the tuner:
