Smoke from dipstick hole?

got a 94 ranger 4x4 supercab with 163,000 miles on it.

noticed that my oil was 1/2 quart short on the dipstick the other day so i filled her up.

took it for drive today and when i removed the dipstick afterwards, there was smoke coming from the dipstick hole.

is this normal?

i am guessing this means it is burning?

radiator is full of fluid?

but reservoir is very low, could that do it?

its normal for some smoke due to blow-by but too much could be a sign of a future problem

I would worry if it continues. Keep an eye on it.

That's crankcase blowby. It's a sign of leaky rings. Buy a bottle of that Restore stuff it's really not that bad of a product and might help.

Hey

if smoke is comeing out of the dipstick...take off your old cap and see how much smoke is coming out. if its pretty noticble you mite have one or more cracked rings on your pistons.
