3.0L 2000 Ranger HELP!

Ok starting out this is for a buddy who told me tonight his truck was acting up. The problem is everytime he hit the gas nothing would happen. RPM's wouldnt increase and he could not accelerate. Felt like nothing was happening basically. I asked how he made it home and he said it would go on and off.

His specs are
2000 Ranger V6 3.0L 2wd RWD with 99k on the clock.

I asked him if any lights were on he said the airbag light and check engine light but they have honestly been on for months. To say the least he is not as good on the maintenance or upkeep as most of us on this site are.

If anyone has any idea what may be wrong post up I'd love to hear it. I know a lot of you guys like trying to figure this stuff out. Im just looking for some possibilities of what may be wrong.

My guess would be fuel pump or something fuel related?

Thanks and look forward to hearing anything!

yea get a flashlight and look under the hood and see. I mean thats just a guess man if it wont go its gotta be the cable either under hood or by the pedal. If it was the tranny it would still rev, and if it was fuel related it would run rough and/or not run

take it to autozone and have them pull the codes, since the check engine light has been on for a while, who knows, he might of pulled a new code. its worth a shot and its free
