exhaust systems

My 96 3.0 supercab needs some exhaust work also... The 'dual exhaust" on mine is the result of a y-pipe behind the current muffler, so it's of absolutely no functional value.
I was thinking universal muffler onto the flange behind the cats, then a 90 degree elbow, then straight out under the passenger's side of the bed in front of the rear tire.... would be cheaper with a glass-pack, but probably sound like crap. Shouldn't be very expensive at all - muffler, 3 clamps, 2 short pieces of pipe, and a hanger.
