exhaust question

right now my truck is straight piped, i was wondering if im losing back pressure and power? and if i put a cherry bomb towards the back where the muffler would of been will that fix the back pressure problem?

ok man trust me the rangers need alittle bit of back pressure. its a v6, almost all v6's need a good amount. but the cat will take care of that. if u through a cherry bomb on there it will give u like 5 maybe 7 hp and alittle torque. i have a 2.75 inch straight pipe outta the cat into a glasspack and a trundown and it sounds awesom. i wanna put headers and clear the cats out

I put thrush welded mufler with a 45o mandrel bend then a tip out the side of my truck infront of rear right tire , sounds good , sounds better then straight pipe

yeah i have 3 inch pipe and it sounds good at low speeds and at a idle it sounds like a v8, but when i get on it, it sounds like a race car. i was hoping that maybe the glasspack or a thrush would give me a better sound.

i havent decided if i want to run a thrush muffler or a glass pack. i just want it to sound good.

glass pack will take the tin can sound outta ur ehaust , and give u a loud bass, thrush dose the same except for it just gives u the bass and its not to loud

how much do the thrush mufflers usually cost? i found a glasspack for $27

ya the thrush is a lil more then that , cause its better quality , mine was prob about $60ish , but thats in canadian

yeah. i think im going to go with the glass pack, the only bad things ive really heard about the glass pack is they dont last very long.

ya they tend to burn out after awhile , then sound like crap

The back pressure spec for the 4.0 sohc and ohv is 0psi. You can check this by removing an O2 sensor and putting in an adaptor with a pressure gauge. Mine was in spec with straights

yeah i know they burn out realy easy, but for $20 if it only lasts for a year i can replace it.

hmmmm i didnt know that the 4.0 was at 0. last time i checked 3.0 needs anywhere from .3 to like .7 but that almost seems too high to me
