Oil pan gasket replacment
Anyone ever done this on a 1993-1997 3.0 4x4?
Is there a certain way to do it, and any tips/need to know before I tear into it?
I do already have the gasket for it... it is a Fel-Pro PermaDry, the most expensive one. And an engine hoist that has already paid for itself twice.
Anything else I should consider replacing or at least check over while I'm into it?

Is the perma dry the blue, flexy, silicone like gasket? My 2000 is 2wd and stick, but yours should be as straightforward. I had to drop the transmission anyways, so that made it that much easier. For you only doing the gasket (If your installing the flexible one), the rear most bolts of the pan are going to be your biggest obstacle. Theres a thin plate that bolts in between the trans and the engine, it blocks just enough of the pan to cause you problems.

The reason I asked if you had the flexible one is because its so much easier to install. I didn't have to drop the pan but maybe 2" to get mine on. You got higher quality gasket than I did, for sure, but its going to be one SOB to put on, since it won't easily bend around the pickup tube. That engine hoist will come in handy again, for sure.
