Oil Consumption Question

Is it possible to have blow by anywhere else? I don't have the proper hose going from the valve cover to the sensor from the pcv for the crankcase ventilation. All I know is the past few weeks I smell burning oil and yesterday I checked the dipstick and it was bone dry. But now I have a side problem. For the time of day I checked...I needed some emergency motor oil. I had some 10w 30 synthetic. I hope this didn't make it worse!

I just got mine bach, and again there was no problems found. They gave me some paperwork from Ford that said less than 1qt / 1500 miles is normal. So I think I will have to just live with it, but I will not be happy about it. Asside from the consumption issue, It does run great.
I do not have an EGR system on my 3.0 Ranger. If only it were that simple.

Engine Oil Usage Guidelines
* Oil usage is normally greater in the first 10000 miles of service. As mileage increases during the warranty coverage period, oil usage gennerally improves.
* Cars and light trucks in normal service should get at leasts 1500 miles/quart after 10000 miles of service. Severe service (e.g., towing, hauling, short trips, taxi, extended idling or law enforcement use) may result in greater oil usage. Diesel engines used in severe service should get at least 1000 miles/quart after 7500 miles of service.
It goes on to state that the dealership may not work on a vehicle for oil consumption issue unless a consumption test is performed. The vehicle must be brought to the dealer ANY time the engine needs oil and the dealer must add it and log the amount and mileage in a LOG by VIN#.
Since the engine runs so good, I think I will just keep an eye on it.
