My friend has it on his 4.0 Ranger. No muffler with 2 3/4" pipe. Meh, it sounds alright. Not the type of sound I like. I think my Magnaflow has me spoiled though. Hehe.

i just did it to my truck, except i also have jba headers

its really loud, very throaty sounding, and when you slow down/start up the engine...it has a backfiring sound/popping sound...like a small v8 rumble has

i like it, but ill probably go back to my jba muffler in a few weeks when i move out to cali with all the liberals...dont want a ticket

it should sound good, but you'll lose back pressure and performance.

you want rugged sound get a flowmaster 40

you want sound and performance get bassani

Here's my straight piped system. I had my exhaust done in june with a Dynomax $20 after rebate muffler from Summit. Took it off, ordered my flow, and here's what my system looked like for a few weeks:

The sound was awesomly ratty sounding, like a rat rod. A little annoying under extreme acceleration. It was really quiet at idle, but very loud at any rpm while driving (1500rpm and above.) The system wasn't all the way back, but there was a member here who had his all the way back and liked it. Downside: VERY BIG Loss in power & mileage.

good luck.

Add Me to the list: I didn't do straight pipe, but I have dual in and dual out on the sucker with no cats..On the other hand, I had a supercharger on the truck, but won't have it any more on it once I get it back from the shop with the new engine and all.

It sounded like a train was coming through! LOVED IT!

I Have Straight Pipes On My Truck. It Sounds Awesome. Nice Rumble When Cruising. Also I Didn't Lose Power Or Mileage, And May Have Even Picked Up A Little Torque. I Would Definately Recommend It.

I tried unbolting the muffler for a day, just to see how it sounded. It had a nice rumble when idling and at low rpms, but went to crap after about 2300. I still want a nice sideswept exhaust.
