I've got an '03 edge with the 3.0L and the hoses are still original. Next weekend I'm planning on heading down to Padre Island National Seashore for some surf fishing and may drive 60 miles down the beach. My concern is that the hoses are 6+ years old now and a tow down island can run $1200.

Am I right to be concerned about the hoses?

How hard are they to change out?

 

I would replace them even if i wasn't taking a trip like you are, they are beyond their useful life by a few years. Shouldn't be hard to change out.

 

since you are located in the heat of TX, id change them too.

 

They aren't that hard to change. As long as you can bleed the coolant system you are good to go. It might be a good idea to flush the coolant too.

 

That's kinda what I was thinking. They've seen 4 Texas summers, 2 South Dakota winters and an Ohio winter.

How do you bleed and flush the coolant system?
