Advanced Engine Tune up ideas for 3.0
So I have a 2000 3.0 with 138k on it. 5 spd supercab. I just got a few weeks ago by a negligent ex owner... I plan on a long 700 mile round trip in a few months, along with pulling a trailer. And just want my baby to run like a top! and help improve MPG
What I have done so far.
Oil / filter change
fuel filter
air filter (Napa gold till I can afford K&N)
radiator flush / new thermostat
PCV Valve
plugs & wires
serp. belt with new idler & tension-er pulley
(Unplugged A/C so clutch no longer kicks in and robs extra power)
What else can I do without breaking the bank to freshen my baby up!
I'm saving for a new Coil, to see if that helps idle and smoothness.
I'm contemplating tampering with the MAF & Throttle body.
Also what about EGR?
Running Seafoam Injector cleaner?
O2 Sensor? - (If so, wheres it located?)

*Oil and Filter
*Fuel Filter
*Air Filter(Look into the Accel Cool Blue Filter, half the price as K&N but the same thing)
*Clean MAF Sensor
*02 Sensors(The front 02's are more important than the rear, so id only change them. The front controls fueling, the rears only let the computer know if the cats are working)
*Change Tranny Filter and Fuild!
*Change Rearend Fuild
*Dump a bottle of Seafoam in the tank( I do a bottle about every 3K)
*Plugs and Wires( ONLY MOTORCRAFT PLUGS)
*There is no need to change coils, i never heard of them weaking. They either work or dont.
*Check air pressure in the tires AND SPARE!
I did all this when i hit 100K and i picked up almost 2.5pmg!

A 2000 3.0 from a negligent owner ?
Get a camshaft syncronizer assembly from Ford (Get the Motorcraft brand only) and swap it out now.
They are a known failure part and if it goes bad you can/will lose your engine as it drives the oil pump.
DO NOT buy the cheap Dorman brand as they are known to fail in less that 20,000 miles.
Cost may be around $90.

to maybe make it breathe better on highway open the face of the airbox up to make it feed better.
bleed all brake lines? Its cheapish and could save your life.
new rotors.
new pads and shoes
new calipers
Clean your throttle body and manifold
grease wheel bearings/replace
new ball joints and shocks
should make the truck run like new along with other suggestions
