Well here lets start. Roughly a month ago I got my plugs and wires from Auto Zone expecting to change them but didn't have the time. So today i had some time to do it, open up my plugs to set the gap. One of my boxes was ****in empty!! I called autozone up and they said they couldn't do anything about it Went to oriley and bought me another plug. Got home and decided to do the hardest first. And HOLY **** is that wire on the pass side closses to the fire wall a ***** to get off. There's pretty much NO space at all to get it.. Ended up gettin the wire off with a screw driver and straight bar from the top/front. How'd you all get it off? But ya... got the rest changed out and it seemed to run a bit better and have a slightly smother idle so i'd say it was worth it.

 

Sounds like a chore. autozone didn't credit you one plug? Weirdos. anywho.....I have no clue how your engine compartment is.....but my truck has removable innerfenders.......that's the key to changing out plugs in a v6 ranger. Remove them things. Get a u-joint socket...it's your friend. Glad you got 'er done. Btw...all your bad words got star'd out.

 

Well you see, I didn't have a tool for pullin wires haha. I'll snap a pic tomorrow of the space I had. I have what I think is my blower for the AC and heat in the way on the pass side.

 

That my friend, is the pain on that passenger side for changing them plugs.

 

Next time you go back to O'Reileys (stay away from Auto Zone) pick up a plug wire puller. I use one that looks like a pair of pliers with rubber coated 1/2 round jaws. Had NO problems changing plugs last week on my '05. Changed the plugs in 40 minutes, and that was taking my time.

 

I actually didnt have too much trouble removing my plugs....but i do remember having a sore shoulder the next day after...i think i twisted it in a weird position to reach everything

 

I guess I got really lucky... I replaced all of my plugs and replaced the wires about 2 months ago, and it really didn't seem that bad....

But yeah, I always open everybox I buy at an auto store b4 I pay cause some yahoo there occasionally gives you the wrong part...in any auto chain

 

How often should this chore be tackled?

 

20k miles if you're using copper plugs. If you haven't changed them yet on your 2002, you're due.

Iridium and platinum can be used for longer intervals..

 

I'll bring the stop watch next time you change 'em..........you better be within 40 minutes too......

No brag, just fact. I wasn't making the statement to show what a badass wrench I am, I made the statement to say that if a **** like me can do it in 40 minutes, anyone can.

 

Ok have done and it says 100K but Im not sure about that? It seems sluggish at times then at other times it runs good.


But may I ask what a PORD is?
