cold air intake/ mass air flow sensor question

im getting a a custum bent pipe for a cold air intake and then im gonna get a new filter cause for my trucj thats the cheapest and easiest way to go. but i have a mass air flow sensor in like a box in front of the stock filter and at the end of the stock tube. and i dont understand what i do with it. i mean, do i keeo it on and run pipes through it or can i just dump it and run the pipe straight to the new filter. will this have any affect on performance or sound????

You have to use your maf. Just run the new pipe to the maf and then put your new filter on..

but should i cut the pipe and run another couple inches out the back then connect the filter to the pipe and what happens if i do take it off. cause today i took off everything, the tube, MAF, filter and i ran it with just the trottle open and i got a nicer sound but when i hit like 5000 rpms the car like jumpstarted

The computer uses the MAF to see how much air is going into the engine. It may run fine sitting and revving but it wont while you are driving. You need it.

If you want to just throw a filter at the end of the MAF you need a MAF adapter. But if you do that you will suck in all the hot engine bay heat and lose power.
