Figured I would ask the experts.

What is the difference between a 2001 3.0L and a 2001 3.0L flex fuel. I know that the flex fuel engine allows you to run ethanol mixture but what was changed to allow it to do so.

The reason I'm asking is I have the flex fuel engine and I am getting ready to do some work on the engine as far as getting more performance. Adding under drive unit, Screamin Demon coil pack, K&N intake with larger MAF, Roller rockers, flowmaster cat back system and looking at performance chips also and I wanted to make sure I get the right stuff and some of it does not specify whether it will work with flex fuel engines or not.

All of the parts you listed work with the flex fuel engine. The engine tune, injectors, and fuel lines are all that is different from a non-flex fuel 3.0. Internally they are the same. Instead of getting a chip, you should look into a tuner. I doubt most of the chips are compatible with the flex fuel. Try Bama or Rouge tunes for your Ranger. You can get an SCT X3 for around $400 I think.

Tuners are much better than chips anyway. With a tuner you can change differnet settings like tire size, gear ratio and other things like that. You can have 3 different tunes instead of just one like a chip. So a towing tune, performance tune, economy tune, etc, etc

I knew someone here would know. Thats great! I will look into a tuner instead. I have only owned this ranger for bout 6 months and enjoyed it but now it's time to start some mods. Thank for the info.
