I am going to rephrase my statement. You are not guaranteed to have problems, problems can arise with this chip though. And your hp gains will not be as high as quoted. You may notice a little pep and a little hp gain but nothing over the top. Next the chip HAS fried ECU's and PCM's before. It has also cause various intake manifold issues as well. The chip isnt fail proof but it isnt horrible.

I would recommend a tuner though, I also remember reading about it leaning out fuel to much and causing issues there.

I have heard only bad things about them... Ive heard of JET being the cheapest and you always get what you pay for, usually there is only one program and some places that do emissions will fail you because their computer can not read the ecm. Id go with SCT's X-cal they offer a lot, you can look at a lot of cool stuff and change a lot of parameters, Ive heard some good about superchips as well... well more good than bad but just remember to make good reliable horsepower and torque you have to spend good money... dont cheap out save and get the right stuff

I've heard they're bad as well, I was just wondering if you had any actual experience with them.

Oh i dont have them off hand, i have read where people have to replace computers, and have issues with firing and misfiring and just fuel problems and things like that most of the problems i have heard all deal with the top of the motor - intake manifold and electronics.

I have one for sale, but it is for an '03 auto. Not sure if it will work on yours. Coming from someone that has had the chip, it does help. It runs better, helps throttle response, makes the shifts more crisp, and even helps gas mileage a little.

Now on the other hand the Jet chip is NOT worth the $300 or whatever.

EDIT: I never had any problems with it when I had it on my old truck.

Well that was on my old truck with the 3.0, my current is the 4.0. The thing I like about the XCAL II is that you can actually adjust things. I am constantly messing with it to get it the way I want it, and just trying different things. The XCAL is worth the money, the Jet Chip isn't. If the chip were only $200 or less then it would be a better deal.

i have got the jet chips programmer tuner and i will say it does work and i did notice an increase in mileage, however its not worth the price. Im going to go with everyone else and say dont waist your money on a PCM module chip unless you feel like paying hundreds in repairs for the truck.
