Warmed up truck, now not starting

I warmed up my Ranger for a few minutes, turned it off to use the key to lock up the house, tried to re-start and nothing. Plenty of battery juice. Just doesn't turn over. Never happened before. Any ideas?

It's raining but it's Seattle so that's nothing new. Dampness hasn't affected it before. Did I flood it somehow?

Have you checked the battery terminals?

One thread is sufficient on the same topic. No need for two.

And I would also check the battery terminals.

Posts are clean. I loosened and retightened but same results. Lots of juice. No turnover. Could this be a timing belt issue?

Sorry. Thought it belonged in the 3.0 liter section but then saw lots of "issue" questions in the general discussion too so didn't want to miss people reviewing that one only in case its something affecting all engines.

check the terminals on the starter before doing anything else. I've had the same thing happen to me that sometimes i'd just leave the truck running lol.

Did you load test the battery or just check for voltage? Had that happen to me once. Drove truck 45min, shut it down, then 30sec later tried to start and got nothing. Bad cell in the batt, would give 12V but did not have ANY cranking amps.

If your starter is not cranking the engine, you could have a bad cell in the battery. I would suggest jumping the terminals on the starter solenoid on the fender well and see if it turns over. If it doesnt (just clicks) then you probably have a bad battery or bad relay or bad starter. Try jumping it off a good battery and see what happens.
