So, this morning I leave the house and jump in the truck to head to work. It started up just fine, no issues right. Lunch time comes around and I prepare to leave, but my 1999 Ford Ranger wont start, it turs over, all the electrical in the cab comes on, I can even hear the fuel pump whiiiiiiir itself to life as I turn the ignition key to the on position. One of my buddies thought maybe it was 'Vapor Lock' which would make sense because the truck sat in the blistering sun all day, but it wasnt even that hot out until this afternoon. Aside from that, I read on a seperate website that Vapor Lock occurs mostly with engines that dont have fuel injection systems. That doesnt mean I am ruling it out yet. I know the air and fuel filters have not been replaced in awhile, should I start there and replace those or look elsewhere for more costly repairs? New plugs and wires? A new fuel pump?

If the fuel pump fuse was blown or disconnected, would it even turn on when I turn the key on?

 

i would check fuel pressure, cause if you here the pump kicking on, all of the electrial part should be fine.
