my new intake take a look

well i went ahead and ditched the old k&n cold intake i had on my 2003 3.0

[IMG][/IMG]

it was a nice quality unit but sucked too much engine heat in,due to the crappy heat shield thing it came with.
so went to this from Roush and hillbank still has a few left

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

now there was only one thing i did not like was the cheap paper filter it came with

[IMG][/IMG]

so with a little modding a k&n element and some gasket material, to help seal the edges more, this is what i got

much better for blocking the heat from the engine than before
and quieter also

its a cheap economical intake for about a 110.00 bucks and any budget

Looks good.
Since that just replaces the air box and 2.3, 3.0 and 4.0 airboxes are all the same - could this be made to work for a 4.0???

I was thinking that to. However, I love my K&N fipk, and no plans to change it. I may go with an AEM dry filter later on, but im happy. It does what I need it to do. It has the walls with the rubber on top and thats enough for me.

Edit, the 04 one like mine have a better heatsheild than that 03 one pictured there.

actually let me rephrase that...I think you misunderstood me

I was saying you should use the K&N tube/cylinder with the roush airshield...

i dont think so due to the 4.0 having a bigger diameter intake(could be wrong)

that was my initial idea but due to the length and angle of the k&n tube it would not fit

I went to look at them
http://www.hillbankmotorsports.com/p...ducts_id=10399

It won't work on my 2007...damn molded into the airbox MAF. With my intake that would be perfect. Oh well.
