33's MPG and Towing

Tires are balding and need to be replaced. Wanted to get new 15" wheels, 33's, spindles and shackles. I've got a 2wd with 4:10s right and am getting 17 mpg city. If I'm getting 17 right now and have the same exact identical driving pattern, what would my gas mileage look like? I know, If iIm asking I probably shouldn't do it, just wanna see how drastic the drop is.

How do 33's do with towing? The little torque I have now, is there any left with 33's? I Tow about 3k lbs, 3 times a month; that even plausible with 33's?

Its possible. I had 33's with my 2.5L and 4.10's and it wasn't horrible. I would get deeper gears though.

I averaged 19mpg with my old truck. 3.0L, 33x12.5 and 4.10s. it should be able to tow it fine. I'd definitely look into getting a tuner though. I didn't mind my 3.0 with 4.10s and 33's much

i get 22mpg on 33x12.5's on my 4.0 on average (highway and city mixed) but i've been running an economy tune for 87 octane.

I was planning on getting demon coils, underdrive pulley, and tuner down the road. I shouldn't go under 13 mpg though?

if your really towing 3k and depending on speeds/hills, you might be close actually.

Yeah I think 13 would be the lower limit. Your prolly looking at like 15 or so.

Not really the issue... Stock he was 18-19mpg then lift and 33's dropped to 14-15 and add the trailer he got 9

I'm not concerned about gas mileage while towing as its already crap and I live about 10 minutes from the boat ramp. Once the spindles come in, I think im gonna replace the ball joints aswell. Now I just gotta find the right all terrain, thinking either the general at2 or the bfgoodrich.

yeah that is realistic and should be too much of a hassle with a ranger and 31s or 33s. mpg might be a little rough but its not like a F150 will do any better.

Would it be better with 10.5 33s instead of 12.5 33s

In theory yes but 12.5s look better IMO. Theres a fine line between economic performance and looks.

You don't have to if your tune is done with the correct tire size but it won't hurt to regear.

My tune has the right gearing I had Fred at rouge do my street tune . I run the 92 performance tune I was thinking of going with 32x11.50 so i could maybe get away without gearing it
