Icon5 Anyone ever attempted to build/found a functional cowl hood? Please help

This is an idea I've toyed with for over a year now. Among the many improvements to my truck that are needed, are the ones I would like. One of them is to find a functional cowl hood. One that really works. Does anyone know of or have found or has built a functional cowl hood or another functioning hood??? Custom air box and the like? I really would like one. I've found 2 different "cowl hoods" online but I know one isn't functional for sure and the other I'm not too sure about. Any great thinkers out there have any ideas about this?? I may attempt to build my own, but would like to know if anyone else has tried this.

3.0L V6 K&N air filter and K&N oil filter only mods to engine.

Any advice, hints, help, links, or the like would be much appreciated.

sorry lucky. I got your PM but my pics are all gone. Cowl by definition needs to have a carburetor. Our intake is by the passenger side headlight. Way too far to be of any gain.

If its appearance, then by all means cowl it.

I cut a small hole in my hood, added a mustang hood scoop, and made a duct that "flooded" the air scoop air over my open filter.

I have looked into a ram air system jtslmn720, only prob there is not one made for rangers and I don't know how to go about making one and all the technicalities (spell check?) which I ain't even going into. Thanks for the help granite guy. That answers my question. It was a good thought though. I like your set up, I'll keep that in mind, but for appearance, I'll definetly cowl it, that is whenever I have the time and the money. College first...

Thanks all for the info and the advice, at least I finally know you need a carburetor to have an effective cowl. This young'en has learned.
