here goes nothin!!!
Well today i have officially started my engine swap. My dad and I just towed my truck down to the garage at our farm and i started tearing things down. All I've done so far id take the hood off and pull the intake hose off. I don't have any pics yet because of my lack of camera but I'm at home now so i can git a camera and lunch and then it's back down there to get back to work. I'll keep ya updated...

im into diesels and i sold mine for a ranger cause over five bucks a gallon on 44 inch swampers is not fun. i read a story in dieselpower magazine about diesel being 9 bucks a gallon in germany last summer. gas where i live went over 4 bucks a gallon and its only going to get worst...so its just my prediction from what ive seen everywhere else in the world.

well if you are going to keep a 3.0L...at least make it better while you have the new engine out of the truck....like more aggressive cam, roller rockers, UD pulley set, e-fan, EGR delete, screamin demon coil pack, etc.
maybe even a supercharger or turbocharger or bore and stroke kit.....the possibilities are endless!!!
actually the possibilities are quite limited, but still lots of cool stuff to do

But hey, he dropped the transmission by hand, against my recommendation of using the motorcycle jack. Thus, he was the one that got gear lube ALL OVER himself. Then he got pissed at me for not taping a ziplock bag over the end of the tranny.

The 01+ Rangers do not have EGR systems, so using one of their ECU and harness will allow you to remove the entire EGR system and you won't have any computer conflicts. Also, removing the EGR allows the engine to breathe easier netting 10 HP at the flywheel.....I'm not 100% sure about that, I think I read that in another thread a few months ago.
OP: I know all that stuff I listed isn't cheap, but there are definitely some things you can do now. Roller rockers $279, UD pulley set $199, stroker kit $way to expensive, but for a couple hundred bucks you can unleash some of the HP in 3.0L. I did a 3.0L swap in mine a little over a year ago. Where did you buy the new engine from?

If I were going to swap a 3.0 back into my truck, instead of adding another 2l, it'd be bored and stroked with roller rockers and a custom intake manifold and mustang throttle body.
You'll still only get like 240hp though. lol
