any supercharger would work for offroading, i know whipple has one for the 3.0 but i cant remember what years. youre best bang for the buck mod will definately be a tuner though

NO. The lower intake on the whipple will not bolt up to it. It has been done by swapping some stuff out from the wrecking yard and losing some emmissions components.

I believe Doug904 has done this to his 99 test truck for RPS. He indeed had to do some altering, but I don't believe it was to drastic. Whipple even sent out a representative to see how a 2001-2006 (?) supercharger could be put on a 1999 Ranger. But it is possible, none the less. Go to www.rangerpowersports.com/forum and go into the 3.0 board, then the forced induction sub-board and ask in there, I'm sure many people have asked and done this already.

if you think youll mess it up with a tuner, dont touch a supercharger. it will need a new tune anyway. doug helped develop the tune for whipples 3.0 supercharger, so his tuning is solid on naturally aspirated vehicles as well. 62500 is a lot of miles to add a supercharger on, it creates a lot of stress your engine is not used to dealing with

You cant really mess anything up with the programmer, it just plugs in your port and takes at max 5 minutes and comes with instructions. But as he said above, if your getting a whipple get it first...then ask Doug for a special program for it

WAY too many miles for a blower. A whipple is a great choice for the low end power, have installed many of them, we cant get the driveline to hold up as with a Whipple as opposed to a ProCharger. But, the ProCharger doesn't start making power until 1800.

I would run a compression check on the motor and if everything registered good I would have no problems in doing it. I guess everyone has a different risk factor.

In his application there is not a pre-engineered bolt on kit, so that pretty much answers the question.

It would take a lot of work to supercharge it as there is not a bolt on kit for your model year. It has been done, it's just not as easy as a 2002+ model year truck. You would have to swap some parts out from a newer truck.

Bamachip is not a cookie cutter like other such as JET, it is made for your truck. You submit your truck numbers to Doug (computer # and something else) so he knows how to tune it. If your getting a whipple...ask Doug and see if he recommends anything. I say go for it

so could i supercharge my truck it has 62432 miles on it and its a 99 but it sounds like it wouldnt be that hard to put it in with the parts you need. will a supercharger hurt my engine i have read mixed reviews on installing one with that many miles on it.

You can put it on. But think of it this way, your internals have 63k miles and 7 years of wear and tear. Has your truck been grandma driven or beaten hard? Putting that much bolton power onto parts that are already worn and then beating on it more, sooner or later something is gonna give and it won't be a pretty sight.

If it was me, I wouldn't even bother putting a whipple on it, unless you had alot of money to throw at the engine in case something does break.

i was thinking about a whipple for my truck but after reading this i might have run into a couple problems 1. i would be around 100,000 miles on my 02 by the time i would get it. 2. i dont know how the truck was driven before i had bought it last year. 3. i am not sure what damage if any had been done when advance auto screwed up with the e3 spark plugs

In your case, I really wouldn't reccommend it.

Whipple went from $2500 up to about $3400 for the kit. It was effective two Mondays ago.
