Sluggish Throttle/ Want more HP&TQ/Tuner

Seems like I can't get the same amunt of throttle as before, like when I would floor it before. I have thrown a efan, pulleys and MAC intake on but I don't see how that should make it worse.

Can the throttle cable stretch or slip?

Also I crave more power and torque and I'm stickin with the 3.0, but what are some Mods to get more HP and TQ and I'm not a fan of boost either, not great for that engine you know.........

I need to get a tuner and I know there is the Xcal and Bama, but what is the overall best tuner and what are the advantages and disadvantages it like being able to get the codes I need to program my truck when I need to from the house and not having to pay to get them because I am always doing something else to my truck so it will need to be retuned all the time.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Yeah, I'm running 4.10's, Saying the throttle seems not as good after the mods, I have had the gears before the engine mods and it was fine, now it seems same-not as good.......

Got intake, efan, and pulleys....... The headers and roller rockers I'm not familiar with, but not looking to spend a ton on mods, I mean its a 3.0, just want a lil more get up and go you know.......... untill it craps out then drop the 8cyl........

Gonna run 35's when summer rolls around and I was thinking 4.56's, cause I thought 4.88 would be over kill, mabye not though with my lil 3.0, but I need to be able to get on that highway still. What you think I should do for the 35's?

I'm getting a tuner soon as I get that tax return back, sent out for it 3 weeks ago, so should be soon..........

what is your stock gear ratio and stock tire diameter in inches?

most likely with 35's and driving on the highway, you will be better off with 4.88's and the 3.0..........i run 35's and 4.56's with my 4.0..........you should be running 4.56's with 33's.....

That is what I'm leaning towards the 4.88's cause of that lil 3.0, just worried about the install on the 4.88, if I remember right there is something about the pinion being too long and needing to be filed down or something, and that 4.56 and lower are easier/simpler than the 4.88's. Have someone that has done some 4.56's before but not an expert by any means.

Any thoughts on the 4.88 install?

+1 on the Throttle Cable Mod

Simple.. go under the dash with some zip ties, and take some slack out of the throttle cable.

After so much usage, the throttle cable stretches over time.. so, after a few zip ties it should be like new. Also, the point of this is really to have the throttle body open up fully. So, it's a good idea to unhook the air tube, and have someone watch as you push the gas pedal to the floor(while the engine is off!) If the butterfly opens up a full 90*, you really don't need the TC mod.

Hope this helps
