I anything ull lose power. Im not sure if I'm right but what comes out of that tube is the unburnt fumes in the crankcase that sneaks through the piston rings. and by redirecting into the intake it reuses the fumes actually giving it power.

I used to do this to my old rangers because they would literally be sucking condensation/oil/crap from the crank into the intake. I totally agree with the filter but I think the crank case needs the suction from the intake to work more effectively, because it draws out gases that build up in the crank. But I'm not a mechanic...

hmm,i think it'll be fine as log as i have the filter on,but yeah thats why i unhooked it so it doesnt suck in all the crap.but hey im not a mechanic either but i relate things to my dirt bike,because the principle is the same...i know a dirt bike isnt the same as a truck!

The theory behind this is to remove any un-metered air that enters the engine. It also
eliminates any crankcase gasses that may make their way into your intake. Those gasses
over time can coat the intake and throttle body with oil, causing a maintenance issues and hurt performance.

heres alittle more info on the PCV and this mod
Stock, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) vents blow-by gases and other trapped air from the crankcase into the intake stream. It does this for emissions reasons. The result is that, over time, your intake can become a bit dirty and greasy and oily from all this air, as it carries airborne oil vapor. The breather just prevents this dirty air from ever going into the intake.
To take this "mod" one step further, you could install an oil catch-can. It will clean the air and reintroduce the clean air into the intake stream, as the air is metered and otherwise goes unaccounted for with just the breather installed.

This has always been an ineffiency on all my rangers. I have always had second thoughts about just popping off the hose from the intake because I don't want to take away the suction from the intake that helps pull out the crank case gases. I have considered using a simple aftermarket inline gas/oil filter between the PCV and intake.....?
