Not really sure what you would gain from this except a dead end off-shute from the regular intake...

I anything ull lose power. Im not sure if I'm right but what comes out of that tube is the unburnt fumes in the crankcase that sneaks through the piston rings. and by redirecting into the intake it reuses the fumes actually giving it power.

when i bought my truck, it didn't even have one of those recirc tubes! I drove it like that for about a year and then made a post about it......fixed now. and i don't remember if it changed or anything.

hmm, well all i know is if its the same principle as like my dirt bike then actually im helping it,but thats my theory, that way the intake isn't sucking in the oil and fumes and just taking in the fresh air.i know its not the same as a dirt bike but the same rules have to apply.if its ok to do it to my bike, then im going to see if it applys to my truck.

You are now letting unmetered air in to your engine, the PCM is not able to make the proper adjustments.

you plugged the hole in the intake hose right?
if so you dont need to worry about the unmetered air stuff, but the PCV stuff im not sure about lol

I sure did.and i seem to notice a change in acceleration it picks up faster when i step on the gas,so my theory works...well to me it does lol.

yep,im sure.trust me i notice the slightest changes in my vehicles, and i didnt add a breather tube,i unhooked it from the intake and put a filter on it so just fresh air goes in to the motor, and then i plugged the hole in the intake tube.and it seems to be working great for me!

I used to do this to my old rangers because they would literally be sucking condensation/oil/crap from the crank into the intake. I totally agree with the filter but I think the crank case needs the suction from the intake to work more effectively, because it draws out gases that build up in the crank. But I'm not a mechanic...

hmm,i think it'll be fine as log as i have the filter on,but yeah thats why i unhooked it so it doesnt suck in all the crap.but hey im not a mechanic either but i relate things to my dirt bike, because the principle is the same...i know a dirt bike isnt the same as a truck!

LOL, this goes great with the electric turbo!

Seriously, you're better off with that in the tube. If you get a high flow intake eventually, they come with a place for that tube to connect to. Ignore my dusty engine bay... (another reason to keep that hose in the tube)

I would hook up an oil catch can to keep the gunk off of the throttle body but I wouldn't run it disconnected like that. They way you have it reminds me of ricers. Oh and you wont pass emissions having it the way it is.

The theory behind this is to remove any un-metered air that enters the engine. It also
eliminates any crankcase gasses that may make their way into your intake. Those gasses
over time can coat the intake and throttle body with oil, causing a maintenance issues and hurt performance.

Its a big mod over on my sport trac board

Not mine

After:

and one of the site sponsers there sells a "kit"

heres alittle more info on the PCV and this mod
Stock, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) vents blow-by gases and other trapped air from the crankcase into the intake stream. It does this for emissions reasons. The result is that, over time, your intake can become a bit dirty and greasy and oily from all this air, as it carries airborne oil vapor. The breather just prevents this dirty air from ever going into the intake.

To take this "mod" one step further, you could install an oil catch-can. It will clean the air and reintroduce the clean air into the intake stream, as the air is metered and otherwise goes unaccounted for with just the breather installed.

So is this beneficial for the engine?

This has always been an ineffiency on all my rangers. I have always had second thoughts about just popping off the hose from the intake because I don't want to take away the suction from the intake that helps pull out the crank case gases. I have considered using a simple aftermarket inline gas/oil filter between the PCV and intake.....?
