serpentine belt whine.

serpentine belt whine.

hi there ive been noticing a noticably loud click and then a loud whirring sound coming from the serpentine belt anybody have any ideas? it only does it while im trying to warm it up and then it happens every time on startup just wondering if its a huge problem or not.

no it aint all you need is lube...lol but you can use some oil on the belt and you should be okay

Icon3 FYI:

My Son's 99 DD was doin the same thing, just got worse, tried the soap on the belt trick to no avail, it ended up bein the belt tensioner.....changed it out and haven't had a problem since...

A/C compressor clutch is activating.
Turn the heater and air conditioning controls to off.

i had squeaking and annoying noises. goodyear gatorback from autozone did the trick.

I had the same problem squeaked like crazy in the morning or after it rained get a goodyear gatorback belt itll stop the squeaking

I think there was a write up on here about the 3L having a belt tensioner problem.

There was one a couple years ago where someone found the tensioner pulley sat at a slight angle in relation to the rest of the pulleys.
Can't find the thread , but I do remember he placed a shim washer on the locator stud (not the mounting bolt) when installing it and it brought the pulley into alignment.
I'm trying it on mine this weekend .

anyone know what the part number is for that gatorback belt by chance?

i did. autozone doesnt hold the contract for them any more... they only carry daynco... i even went by the goodyear store in town.
