long trip + 400 pound engine in bed= great MPG
On my trip to Virginia and back, I got amazingly good gas mileage.
I filled up five times and the calculated MPG of each tank was 20,21, 23, and 24
I was so shocked that driving a long distance even with a load in the bed gave me great gas mileage... I never thought Id be gettin around 20 mpg with my trcu so the 23 and 24 were shocking.
I guess have a CAI in my old airbox with the silencer removed help me here. The silencer removal was done last week and my i think its workin on gettin the cold air in there.
I also only ran 87 gas which I have never done. I usually run 89 all the time, or sometimes I do 88 at one of the stations in town.

My wife and I bought a load of harwood floors in Georgia a few years ago. I hauled it all back down to Florida in my previous truck, the 04 F150 FX4 with the 5.4 V8. I never had gotten even close to 20 for highway miles, but figured the mileage on that trip at 21.9. I thought about keeping it in the bed permanently!
