Black brake fluid

Is it bad that my brake fluid is black? And what would cause this?

It is bad and usually caused by moisture.

hmm so what should i do about this? how does moisture get in?

Starting with the passenger side rear wheel , bleed the system using fresh fluid until it runs clear.

do i have to worry about any damage that may have occured from moisture?

Brake fluid is hygroscopic mean that it absorbs moisture so over time it will turn black and nothing may b wrong just a sign it needs changed.

You could use a turkey baster or similar and gradually replace the old fluid with new over time.
Make sure not to remove too much fluid from the reservoir or air will enter the system.
