Looking for exhaust. Magnaflow or flowmaster? Need opinions!
Hey guys I have a flowmaster 40 series single in dual out dumped under the bed on my lowered 00 ranger and it sounds great! But that is all I have ever had and I am looking to put an exhaust on my 99 3.0 ranger but I have been considering giving Magnaflow a try. I had a Magnaflow exhaust on my BMW and it sounded AMAZING! Just wondering how it would sound on a 3.0 ranger. Anyone have a soundclip of their exhaust setup and specs? Who's running a magnaflow and do you like it? Just looking for opinions before I buy another flowmaster. Thanks!

A straight thru muffler design WILL out perform a chambered style, hands down. But on a Ranger, you aren't really going to feel a difference unless you kill some restriction upstream of the muffler. I seriously doubt you will ever require more performance with your truck that any 2.5" muffler can handle. Get what you like the sound of.

Magnaflow. When D. was around he had mentioned some dyno charts between his Flowmaster and Magnaflow, the Magnaflow wasn't any outstanding gain, but its curve was better than the Flowmaster.
Besides, I don't care for the sound of the Flowmasters., I haven't heard any that I "really" liked. Magnaflow however, sounds good to me.

Dude... really? A few weeks a ago you started a thread about mufflers that went 3 pages. Did you not learn anything from it?

magnaflow for sure. flowmaster, is definitely not the flow-master. those things rob you of power. i noticed a slight power increase going from a flowmaster 40 to straight pipes. then even more power going to 2.5" piping and a straight through magnaflow muff.
vid:
crappy pic that i have lol
used to be piped about a foot or so after the muffler with a bend in it to possibly have it exit out the side. but i said eff it and just cut if after the muffler.

I have the magnaflow too and love it, they are cheaper on ebay but I wanted a warranty(salt in winter kills an exhaust) so I got it here. magnaflow 15603, or you can try one of the vendors
