ticking coming from engine
I left my 2000 ranger sitting for a couple days got home started it up fine moved it no issues. Next day I started it up to run some errands and loud ticking started so I popped the hood and noticed bolt on the front of the ac pulley was missing and rattling so I replaced the bolt but to no effect the ticking persists. Any ideas what it is or what I could do?
Thanks, Jesse

It could be any one of dozens of things, as such it's impossible on my end to do anything other than guess, which isn't very effective at solving the problem. You gotta go in there and try to isolate the source. A long screwdriver or a piece of rubber hose can be used as a stethoscope to better isolate the source.

Ok its louder from underneath the truck. I couldn't really pin point where it was coming from. I drove it around the block and couldn't hear it while driving and the sound got a lot less noticeable from under the hood and I can still hear it from underneath the truck. It doesn't seem to be affecting power or anything it drives fine im still stumped
