fuel cut off switch

fuel cut off switch

the one under the glove box in my 04 ranger not working wright

it cut off the fuel 3 times in the past 2 days i called 2 dealerships locally neither had it in stock one wanted 100 and the other wanted 39 it should be here in 2 days

i hate waiting

Are you talking about the inertia switch?

if you had a wiring diagram, you can probably jump that little guy out pretty easily. Or i hate to say what i'd do right now.

If it was my truck, i'd take out the fuel pump relay, and use a jumper wire with two male spade ends across the relay and run it. You'll have to disconnect it when its not running, but my tail wouldn't be waitin around for two days and no truck.

No need to disconnect the relay. If the inertia switches two wires are connected it will be bypassed, which would only be an issue in the case of an accident.

the truck runs i just have to reset it every now and then i could bypass it but i really dont want to start making home made mods that will bite me in the *** later

Why do you have to reset it?

And do you know where your period and comma keys are and how to use them? :)

pwned.lol the inertia switch cuts off power to the fuel pump them the key is on, in case of accidents or rollover the switch is jarred and it kill power and cuts off fuel. it can be reset by hitting the button on it.

mine gave me some issues too, but i got one out of a jy.

LOL

I pulled a NEWB job........misread the OP's post. I thought HE was resetting it or trying to kill the fuel. My bad. I know "why" they have to be reset, just too retarded and can't read today.

well i replaced it and ford changed up the switch a little do if you must replace it you must cover up some hole and drill 3 new ones but any way trucks runs good now i wont be doing any major driving till tomorrow but i drove it hard around the block
