Misfire Code

Took my '04 Edge 3.0 V6 in for new tires and a transmission flush yesterday. When they drove it back out to me, the dashboard engine light was on. They said it was flickering on when they drove it onto the rack. In any case, their code reader said I have a #6 misfire.
Will start by changing the plug, but: which cyl is #6? Back left?
Once I change the plug, since I don't have a code reader, will the engine light stay on until I can get someone with a code reader to reset it? I heard that disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes will also reset the engine light. It this true?

driver side back side is number 6
Ya disconnect battery will rest the CEL

i got the same problem gonna wait till my dad gets home from offshore for him to look at it he worked at ford dealer for 28 years i have po 304 and po 316.. i also have a ford service tech pdf about what the problem is will post after i get off work...

P0304 Misfire #4
P0316 misfire first 1000 engine revolutions

Change your coil pack bet that is the problem

If it misses at idle clean the IAC

Local ford dealer changed coil pack under waranty maybe 3000 miles ago said they fixed problem now that it's not under waranty same problem may need to try cleaning iac

I had a P0304 code. After spending $230 for computerized engine diagnosis and other electronic modern technical voodoo, mechanics warning me of head gasket problems and other expensive propositions, it was a lousy spark plug fixed for $2.00.

Where it is #6, if it is like mine it is right out in the open. For a few minutes you could check the wire and plug. wet the wire and grab hold. If it bites, that is likely the issue. If not you can swap plugs with #5 very easily. #5 is the middle on the driver side. if the problem moves, it is the plug. Well, duh, I guess you knew that.

Did you find out what it was?

Yup, replacing #6 plug fixed the problem. Then I replaced the others since #6 was so worn down...
