Camshaft Position Sensor. Help please!

Hi there everybody, I have been a member on here for a little while and I have proven this site to be truly useful. Well onto my problem, i have had a horrible squeaking sound coming from near my firewall on the manifold which makes me think its the Synchronizer. Well i replaced the Synchronizer and the sensor, with Ford factory parts (solved my problem, I thought), and nearly 750 miles later it is squeaking again. Im getting so irritated with it as it squeaks nearly almost all of the time now. Please help this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Shaggy.

You can try and put a drop or two of oil on the synchro. Just take off the sensor on top of the synchro and add drop of oil. Thats all Ive done and it hasnt made a sound since, but I still keep an eye and ear out for it b/c mines still original at 68k.

Did you buy the part at a parts store or the dealer? Parts stores usually have some kind of warranty period on certain parts. How long ago did you buy it?

Hi there, Thank you for the quick response. I bought the part at a Ford Dealership, and i have had it in probably about a month and a half. I have pulled off the sensor and have put about a Teaspoon of oil down there, it solves the problem for the day, but then it seems to come back.

Thank you,
Shaggy.

The unit is splash lubricated through a very small hole toward the bottom. It's possible when you installed it the hole was pointed away from the cam gear that throws the oil against it. I'll dig my old one out to see which side the hole is on.

Shaggy,

Maybe try this:

I haven't had any problems with my ranger yet. This might help you out. From the sounds of it, it can only get better.

Jono
