hey guys... i actually just bought my truck back in december and i have been having that noise happen to. i brought it into ford to have it checked considering it is still under warranty and they told me it is the a/c compressor or something that is making that noise and that it is normal. If you turn your vent switch to i believe just the vent setting only to the left of off it goes away because that is the only setting that doesnt use the ac. Supposdly the a/c compressor is running on all other settings other then off and the upper vent one to keep the freeon (not sure the spelling) moving through the system, which in turn keeps it lubricated. So as annoying as that noise is its gonna be there and they are claiming it is normal.

Mine kicks on every 8 seconds or sooner. It stops once the AC is turned off. Just the AC clutch clicking. Not meaning to hijack but does anyone else hear a funny noise when the truck is off and THEN you turn the AC off? It's bugs the crap out of me. Sounds like it might be pressure letting off.

It will kick the compressor on in:
-Defrost settings (including dash/defrost)
-A/C all settings
-Dash face vent settings
Doesn't matter if you're kicking cold air of heat, the compressor still kicks on.

The AC is an additional load on the engine... especially in the cold when the compressor lub is a little less fluid. It is very normal, trust me. You can make this go away one of two ways:
Set the thing for vent only or floor only or off. Those are the only HVAC settings that do not run the AC compressor.
OR
Do the famed AC Mod.
