squeaky belt

About 2 weeks ago my belt started squeaking when driving in the rain.
I sprayed some wd 40 on it and it only got worse.
So i took off my belt to spin every wheel to try and figure out which wheel was making the noise. After a 1/2 hour of finding no noise i put the belt back on and started my truck and there was no noise.

Yesterday after washing my truck i noticed it came back. I sprayed Pam olive oil on it and it went away for an hour or so but came right back. Now it only makes noise when i drive (no noise in park).

Does anyone know what could be wrong? New belt?
I need to fix this fast because im trying to sell it.

HELP!!!!

for some reason they will still squeak on the 3.0... that seems to be the only real fix and sometimes it will still squeak after a new belt

I don't know but I always thought belt noises was from the belt itself slipping on the various pulleys, which might be why WD40 made it worse. Maybe take the belt off and clean all the pulleys but I am probably not telling you anything somebody else has already tried.

If that doesn't work there is belt dressing you can buy at any auto parts store and spray on the belt while it's running. Should stop it at least temp

never put belt dressing or ANY kind of oil on the belt. your truck is a 99?? get a gatorback belt, and if that doesnt fix it, its the tensioner

Look at the alignment of the pulleys. The 3.0 belt tensioner bends badly. Just look down at the pulley and you will see it. Replace the tensioner and the belt and no mre squeak.
