ughh...i have a 2001 ranger 3.0 V6 with 135k on it. I have owned the truck for a while and the only major problem i encountered was a cracked head (got replaced). Late one day out of the blue my ranger started misfiring. So i broke out my code reader and found out i have misfires in cylinders 2 and 6. I replaced the spark plug wires, spark plugs, fuel filter and im about to dump 80 bucks onto a new coil pack. Im clearly out of options that i know of.

which head did you have replaced?

 

well u got a good plan going... start down the wiring and work to the source, it may be a coil pack, it would make sense. however it may be an antifreeze leak into the cylinder, on 2 and 6. i'd start the truck up and check the tailpipe for misting. or see if you have bubbles shooting up when you open up the radiator cap. but i'd bank on wiring.
